It's A Good Idea To Test Your Ideas
And it all starts with a hypothesis. What are some characteristics of a good hypothesis? Funny you should ask, because here are some questions to ask before you start testing that hypothesis you have.
• Is it testable?
• Can you prove or disprove it?
•If you reversed your hypothesis, would you care about the difference it would make to your overall logic?
• If you shared your hypothesis with any other stakeholder, would it sound naive or obvious?
• Does it point directly to an action or actions that you might take?
And arguably, I should test this; the most important question is whether it is open to debate. If it cannot be wrong, it is simply a statement of fact and unlikely to produce keen insight.
“In choosing a hypothesis, there is no virtue in being timid. I clearly would have been burned at the stake in another age.” ― Thomas Gold
